Well, in case you’re wondering, we’re finishing up IguanaFashions 2.0 - a full-scale social marketplace for independent and emerging fashion designers from around the globe. From what we’ve found, there’s only about 1 or 2 sites out there are in the space: Etsy is one of them.

Etsy’s good, but it’s more focused on a potpourri of various things: crafts, clothes, furniture and other oddities. They also have a pretty good web 2.0 functionality withh commenting and adding-friends ability, but the 2.0 seems to come in 2nd to the marketplace.

What we’re hoping to do with Iguana 2.0 is focus on the social aspect and still have a sound marketplace to buy cool designs. Once again, we will not act as a buyer, but will be open to any up and coming fashion designer who wants to make their initial splash, or bypass the middle-man buyer. More updates as we move ahead…

It is a genious idea. Can’t wait! I’d definetly want to be a part of it. I am sure it will be the hottest spot on the web to find great stuff by indie designers.
